Eva x Gundam by Chewyli Eva x Gundam by Chewyli
A couple of years ago I drew a gundamized Evangelion. Which was Eva unit 1 flying around with wing-esque boosters shield and beam rifle. I felt it was time to switch things around and make an evangelized gundam. Marrying two of the most iconic "mecha" designs in all of anime.
I call the frankenstein mecha the EVA unit 78 (if you get that reference you're a giant nerd/otaku... Like me so msg me ^^).

I hope it has enough iconic enough to be recognizable as both an EVA as well as a Gundam.

Hehe the whine level is off the chart.

Although Amuro does man up in sequels and Shinji is pretty bad-ass in the new EVA movies

:wow: Ooh- a highly-successful merging of the two mecha! :star: :star: :star: :star: :star:
Most hybrids I see are just an EVA with Gundam-esque antenna and coloring :shakefist:, but you blended them together seamlessly here!

I can definitely see both of the designs in this one, though the 'bodytype' is very much Evangelion. Ah, Evangelion was my 'first', first as in the first animation that I knew was anime ;)

Yeah this is clearly an evangelized Gundam, I did the opposite some time ago. Maybe I should redo that one

Unit 78, most likely because the original Gundam was Gundam RX-78? :)

This actually looks really neat! I think you managed to merge the two quite nicely here. Haha, good thing this one didn't fight in the One Year War, Zeon would've been obliterated in 2 months!

You get the cake, Merlin. I used the classic colors of the RX-78. I feel like the awareness of the original UC. era series is dying down with all the alternate universes. Heck when I visited Japan last march it seemed like the popularity of gundam in general was on an all time low.

The awareness was dying down, what with Gundam Wing, Seed and 00. But fret not, because Unicorn will bring change to that! We're back to the UC with a great series to let the new fans know about the original gundam universe :)

Although, if what you say about your trip to Japan is right, there might still be a problem... Could it be that moe beat mecha and has taken its place in the hearts of Japanese animefans? I'm not sure whether the Unicorn blu-ray was already released back in March, but if it was, it might be a tough battle to get Gundam back in scene :(

NerV HQ: "NO, this will never do, it stands out too much."

Given Unit 2 is bright Red, Unit O was originally blaze orange(in its defense is was Beta test unit), and Unit 01 is a funky purple/yellow combo.... Well, hey its not like it was the USA model(which was vaporized along with NerV America) with its chromed out look...
